Othello As Iago Essays - Othello, Iago, Michael Cassio, Emilia
Othello As Iago As scalawag in Shakespeare's play Othello, Iago has two principle activities. They are to plot and to trick. Iago loathes Othello for two reasons. He accepts that Othello had intercourse to his better half, and Iago is distraught that Cassio was picked to be Lieutenant rather than himself. From this detest comes the principle strife of the play. Iago intends to demolish Othello via completing an arrangement dependent on lies and double dealing. This arrangement will make Iago the main individual that Othello accepts he can trust, and Iago will utilize this trust to control Othello. To start with, Iago plans to expel Cassio from his situation as lieutenant with the goal that he himself dominate Cassio's situation as friend and Lieutenant to Othello. At that point Iago would like to persuade Othello that Cassio and Desdemona are taking part in an extramarital entanglements. On the off chance that Iago's plan unfurls appropriately, he will be conceded the retribution that he accepts he merits. Iago's arrangement and his thought processes are uncovered through an arrangement three of discussions. He talks with Roderigo twice and Cassio once. These three discussions show how Iago controls others to pick up his own closures, and they additionally give intentions in Iago's conduct. The discussions all follow the equivalent design. Iago initially talks with Roderigo and Cassio to advance his arrangement, and at that point Iago has a discourse where he talks about his thought processes. Iago expresses that the purposes behind his despise are that Othello laid down with Emilia and Cassio was picked to be Othello's Lieutenant. In any case, Iago's activities lead to closes that try not to vindicate his given thought processes. Coleridge calls Iago's activities the thought process chasing of a motiveless threat . At the end of the day, Iago's as it were explanation behind pulverizing Othello is that Iago is an innately terrible individual. The discussions that Iago has with Roderigo and Cassio show that Iago imagines explanations behind his activities against Othello, so his own narrow minded closures can be met. Iago's first discourse with Roderigo fills in as a prologue to Iago's plan. In this scene the peruser discovers that Roderigo is infatuated with Desdemona, since he takes steps to suffocate himself when he discovers that Othello and Desdemona are locked in. Utilizations Roderigo's shortcoming to assist him with expelling Cassio from his lieutenant position. Iago advises Roderigo to put cash in thy handbag (333) . Iago accepts that Othello and Desdemona won't be together for a very long time since Othello is a Moor and Desdemona is a blue-blood. Iago inclinations Roderigo to gain cash now with the goal that he can be a qualified admirer when Desdemona is searching for another spouse. This discussion and the monologue tailing it present the two unique sides of Iago. Iago discloses to Roderigo what he needs to hear so as to enroll his assistance. Be that as it may, in the accompanying talk the peruser is acquainted with what Iago truly has arranged. He expresses that he could never partner with somebody like Roderigo but to pick up his own closures. In this manner do I ever make my imbecile my handbag -/For I mine own picked up information should disrespect/ On the off chance that I would time grow with such a kill/But for my game and benefit (365-368). Iago feels that Roderigo is a stupid man who exists just for Iago's utilization or game. This thought a fortified by the word kill. The Arden Shakespeare characterizes kill as fool (p. 159) and states that the word signified gull or trick (p. 159) preceding Shakespeare. These definitions accentuate the way that Iago feels no regard for Roderigo and is controlling Roderigo just to encourage his arrangement. In the equivalent discourse, Iago's genuine arrangement is uncovered uniquely to the crowd. Iago needs to persuade Othello that Cassio and Desdemona are enamored. They are the two individuals that Othello trusts, and if Othello accepts that they have turned on him, this will prompt his destruction. Iago intends to reveal to Othello that Cassio and Desdemona are taking part in an extramarital entanglements. Cassio is a women man, and Iago accepts that Cassio's beguile makes ladies experience passionate feelings for him. Iago will make the blameless teases of Cassio and Desdemona appear mystery love to Othello. After some time to mishandle Othello's ears/That he is excessively acquainted with his significant other/He hath a individual and a smooth arrange/To be suspected, surrounded to make ladies bogus (378-380). Iago planted a seed of expectation in Roderigo, and whenever they talk Iago utilizes this want to turn Roderigo against Cassio. In this scene Iago tells Roderigo that Desdemona is legitimately enamored with [Cassio] (215). From that point past conversation, Roderigo accepts that

Descriptive Essay - Original Writing - 1609 Words
It was a crisp morning in the first week of June, 2014. With her step-mom and father, Oriana and I got into the car at four oââ¬â¢clock in the morning and set out for the Eppley Airfield in Nebraska. The lengthy drive was masked by exotic dreams of Europe as Oriana and I slept soundly in the backseat of their champagne Cadillac. Before we knew it, the sun was creeping up from behind the scenery, eloquently painting the sky with vibrant tones of red, orange, and purple. We stopped at a small gas station with a McDonalds across the street. After filling up the gas tank, the four of us walked across the dull, pavement parking lot and into McDonalds. I was immediately enlivened by the scent of the freshly made food. The building was filled withâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦My stomach had been pulled into my back, but I felt it settle as the wheels sucked back up into their rightful place and the plane leveled out. As the plane continued to increase in altitude, everything below us continued to decrease in size. I was amazed that I could seeing so much and so little at the same time! Miles upon miles of land visible from the 9x12 inch window on my right, and yet the cars looked like ants. After a few essential pictures, a short nap, and some conversation, our two hour flight was almost over. The plane began to slow down and steadily sink towards the ground. I remember experiencing my first bit of turbulence and feeling a sense of comfort from it. The bumps and slight rattling reminded me of riding in my car. After a fairly bumpy and somewhat soothing landing, we unbuckled and Oriana said, ââ¬Å"That was an awful landing,â⬠turning to me and continuing, ââ¬Å"they arenââ¬â¢t usually like that: hopefully the next one wonââ¬â¢t be so bad.â⬠She was genuinely concerned that the landing had bothered me in some way; as if the shaking an d bumping had put in me in a state of distress. The Poor and Christianity - 1033 Words
The poor will always be with us. The saying, ââ¬Ëthe poor will always be with usââ¬â¢ originated from the bible. According to the Christian bible (Matthew 26:11, Holman Christian standard bible)ââ¬â¢ you will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have meââ¬â¢. The circumstances surrounding this passage occurred just before Jesusââ¬â¢ imminent crucifixion, Mary Magdalen anoints Jesus with a valuable oil/perfume. Prior to this Jesus had always asked his devotees to sell their luxury items and give the money to the impoverished. When the disciples saw Mary anointing Jesus with the oil/perfume, they said to Jesus ââ¬Å"why was this oil not sold and the proceeds given to the poorâ⬠? Jesus replied ââ¬Å"let her keep this for the day of my burial .You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have meâ⬠. Gaining insight into this passage would initially require that the word poor is not exclusively used to describe the materially impoverished and that being poor does not necessarily denote a lack of possessions or money, it can also refer to being spiritually poor, whether that be in a religious sense or in fact personal spirituality, a lack of fulfilment, contentment and worth in oneââ¬â¢s self . In this regard the saying could in fact be extended to describe the spiritually impoverished, as seen in the socially excluded, which would be almost impossible to eliminate in todays capitalist societies. Sociology Research Paper Essays - Sociology, Conformity,
Sociology Research Paper Sociology is the scientific study of human social activity. In the effort to study human social activity sociologists brake it down into objects of analysis. The three objects of analysis are population, social structure, and the individual. Each can be differentiated but each is also integrally related to the other two. As an object of analysis sociologists defines population as an aggregate of people in a geographical area that has size and longevity. The size has a lower limit of two and no upper maximum. Longevity varies and has a lower limit of zero with no known upper limit. Populations are by definition made up of individuals. The study of human population is termed demography. Demography studies the size and composition of a population, as well as migration and location of the population. Demographers track birth rates and death rates and monitor the population growth and try to explain them in terms of the social system's development. A good example is the Malthusian theory in which population increases geometrically and the resources increase arithmetically resulting in a lack of resources resulting in famine and war. Fortunately the theory is flawed in that it does not consider social factors such as artificial contraception and the burden of large families in a post industrial society. Th e way a population interacts with the environment creates a social system. The social system draws on the population and affects the population. An example of this is in India where the ratio of men to women is 108 (108 males to every 100 female) while the sex ratio of most other nations is below 100. The cause for this disparity is that parents value sons more than daughters and sometimes abort a female fetus, or after birth give the daughter less care which can result in premature death. A social system is defined as two or more roles tied together by relationships of interdependence. A role is a patterned repetitive set of behaviors. An example of a role is an occupation. There are various categories of social systems like formal organizations that have goals in mind and attempt to achieve them (ex: nations) or like informal organizations that are less goal oriented as in a community or a family. Human communities provide social systems that serve the function of providing the daily requirements of life to a population. Social systems have four basic types of roles; production of goods and services, distribution of the goods and services, recruitment and training of new members, and control functions. Population affects the roles of the social system. An example of this would be if the birth rate increased then there would be a greater need to train these new people and the recruitment and training role would be affected. The training of an individual to become one of the group is termed socialization and is carried out by church, family, and school, among other sources. Individuals then are Homo Sapiens that vary in sex, age, and lifecycle. Humans have the ability to lay out avenues to achieve a goal and then through thought processes make a choice on which avenue to follow. Humans are differentiated from animals in that all animals can sign (reacting to something) but only humans can symbol (the ability to place meaning into something). To be human you must be able to symbol and to symbol you must have at least two people, which leads to a social system. The result is that in order to be human you must be in a social system. Helen Keller was an example of someone who was not a human until she was able to symbol. Social systems affect individuals by the process of socialization. Socialization instills the norms of the system into the individual. The norms are all the proscribed and prescribed forms of behavior in the social system. Norms vary in importance from the folkway of wearing a tie to a formal dinner party to the mores of adults not engaging in sexual acts with children. Socialization internalizes these norms in the individual shaping the resulting personality of the individual. Lack of exposure to a social system result in someone who is not human as in the cases

Converting Cubic Feet to Liters
Converting Cubic Feet to Liters This example problem demonstrates how to convert cubic feet to liters. The cubic foot is the U.S.à and imperial unit of volume for a cube that has sides that are 1 foot in length. The liter is an SI or metric unit of volume. It is the volume of a cube that has sides that are 10 centimeters in length. The conversion between the two systems is fairly common, particularly if youre working with liquefied gases. Cubic Feet to Liter Conversion Problem What is thisà volumeà ofà 1 cubic footà in liters? Many conversion factors are difficult to remember. Convertingà cubic feet to liters would fall into this category. The unit-canceling methodà is helpful in performing this kind of problem because it uses many easily remembered conversions that relate the original units to the final units, as follows: 1 foot 12 inches1 inch 2.54 centimeters1,000 cubic centimeters 1 liter Using these steps, you can express feet to centimeters as: Distance in cm (distance in ft) x (12 in/1 ft) x (2.54 cm/1 in)Distance in cm (distance in ft) x 30.48 cm/ft Convert these distances into volume measurements of cm3 and ft3: Cube volume (linear measurement)3, so:Volume in cm3 [(distance in feet) x 30.48 cm/ft]3Volume in cm3 (volume in ft3) x 28316.85 cm3/ft3 Convert cubic centimeters to liters: Volume in liters (volume in cm3) x (1 L/1,000 cm3)Volume in liters (volume in cm3)/1,000 L/cm3 Insert the cubic volume from the previous step: Volume in liters [(volume in ft3) x 28316.85 cm3/ft3)]/1,000 L/cm3Volume in liters (volume in ft3) x 28.317 L/ft3 Now you have your conversion factor of cubic feet to liters. Insert 1 cubic foot into the volume in ft3 part of the equation: Volume in liters (1 ft3) x 28.317 L/ft3Volume in liters 28.317 L Therefore, one cubic foot is equal to 28.317 liters of volume. Liter to Cubic Feet Example The conversion factor works the other way, too. For example, convert 0.5 liter to cubic feet. Use the conversion factor 1 cubic foot 28.317 liters: Cubic feet (0.5 liter) x (1 cubic foot / 28.317 liters) The liters cancel out on the top and bottom, leaving you with 0.5 / 28.317, and giving an answer of 0.018 cubic feet. Tips for Success The key to working the unit conversion correctly is to make certain the unwanted unit cancels out and leaves the desired unit. Its also worthwhile to keep track of significant digits. Remember there are about 28 liters in a cubic foot. If youre converting from cubic feet to liters, expect to get a larger number than you started with. If youre converting from cubic feet to liters, your final answer will be a smaller number.

The Development of Art and Music Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
The Development of Art and Music - Assignment Example The term ââ¬Å"classicalâ⬠in Western culture refers to the two cultures of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome which dominated Europe and large parts of Asia from their Eastern Mediterranean base. The art of this period is preserved in magnificent marble statues, mosaics such as those at Pompeii and some paintings. Human figures were favorite subjects and there is a cleanness of line and a celebration of physicality in the art of this time. Mythology was often depicted, but also ordinary citizens and famous people of the age. Not very much is known about music, except that it was a part of most dramatic performances, from plays in the theatres to spectacles with gladiators in the Coliseum. This period ends with the fall of Rome in the fifth century and then everything is rather quiet through the period known as the ââ¬Å"Dark Agesâ⬠. The earliest evidence we have of dark ages and medieval music shows a close connection with religious activities, which is not surprising since the Church was the place where most intellectual activities and almost all reading and writing activities took place. Illustrated books show psalms and hymns, sometimes with basic musical notation, and a key innovator in this field was Pope Gregory the Great (540-604), who promoted the use of plainchant, monotone single voice or choir delivery of short uplifting texts across the increasing territories of Christianity. One of the most notable composers was Hildegard of Bingen ( 1098-1179) who wrote chants and ââ¬Å"sequencesâ⬠which were used in worship, again using voice as the main carrier of the melody but some more daring intervals than those common in the Gregorian chants. In art religious subjects dominated and the pictures of saints or Bible figures were designed to convey a narrative, for example by depicting objects which had sy mbolic significance, or which reminded the viewers, most of whom could not read, what the key elements of the story were.

Production Strategy Essay Example for Free
Production Strategy Essay The total number of time spent for machining and welding during the manufacture of one BodyPlus100 (includes the machining and welding hours mentioned in Frame Unit, Press Station and Pec-dec Station) are eight (8) hours. The total number of hours spent for Painting and finishing in the entire process (includes the machining and welding hours mentioned in Frame Unit, Press Station, and Pec-dec Station) is five (5) hours. The total number of hours spent for Assembling, testing and packaging for the manufacture of one BodyPlus100 machine is two (2) hours. BodyPlus200 The total number of time spent on machining and welding in the entire process (includes the machining and welding hours mentioned in Frame Unit, Press Station, Pec-dec Station and Leg Press Station) during the manufacture of one BodyPlus200 machine is twelve (12) hours. The total number of hours spent for Painting and finishing in the entire process (includes the machining and welding hours mentioned in Frame Unit, Press Station, Pec-dec Station and Leg Press Station) is ten (10) hours. The total number of hours spent for Assembling, testing and packaging for the manufacture of one BodyPlus100 machine is two (2) hours. Calculations: The total number of working hours assigned for machining and welding processes is 600 hours. The total number of working hours assigned for painting and finishing processes is 440 hours. The total number of working hours assigned for Assembling, Testing and Packaging is 140 hours. To find out the total number of machines that can be made can be found out in the following math. As either of the machines (BodyPlus100 and BodyPlus200) requires two (2) hours of assembling, testing and packaging time. Total number of machines to be produced: à Now let the total number of BodyPlus100 machines manufactures be denoted by the variable ââ¬ËXââ¬â¢ and the total number of BodyPlus200 machines manufactured be denoted by the variable ââ¬ËYââ¬â¢. Therefore, the total time required for Assembling, testing and Packaging is 2 hours. That implies, à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à 2X + 2Y =140 Then X+Y=70. There we get the total number of possible machines that can be made are seventy in number. As the recommended number of BodyPlus200 machines that have to be produced must be at least 25% of the total number of machines produced. Then ââ¬ËYââ¬â¢ takes a value of 25% of the total number of possible machines i.e. seventy (70). Therefore, 17 fills in the best value of at least 25% of total number of machines produced when the count of total number of machines produced are sixty five (65). Taking the number of BodyPlus100 machines and BodyPlus200 machines manufactured to be 49 and 16 in numbers respectively. Then the calculation follows as: Time required for machining and welding: 1) BodyPlus100: In the Frame unit, it takes four (4) hours of machining and welding time. In the Press Station, it takes two (2) hours of machining and welding time. In the Pec-dec Station, it takes two (2) hours of machining and welding time. The total number of machining and welding time taken in the manufacture of one BodyPlus100 machine is eight (8) hours. Therefore, the total time taken for machining and welding processes during the manufacture of 49 BodyPlus100 is 49*8 = 392 hours. 2) BodyPlus200: In the Frame unit, it takes five (5) hours of machining and welding time. In the Press Station, it takes three (3) hours of machining and welding time. In the Pec-dec Station, it takes two (2) hours of machining and welding time. In the Leg Press Station, it takes two (2) hours of machining and welding time. The total number of machining and welding time taken in the manufacture of one BodyPlus200 machine is twelve (12) hours. Therefore, the total time taken for machining and welding processes during the manufacture of 17 BodyPlus200 is 17*12 = 204 hours. Therefore, the total number of hours spent for the entire manufacture processes is equal to 392 + 204 = 596 hours Hence, we lost 4 hours of unused machining and welding time. Time required for Painting and finishing: 1) BodyPlus100: In the Frame unit, it takes two (2) hours of painting and finishing time. In the Press Station, it takes one (1) hours of painting and finishing time. In the Pec-dec Station, it takes two (2) hours of painting and finishing time. The total number of painting and finishing time taken in the manufacture of one BodyPlus100 machine is five (5) hours. Therefore, the total time taken for painting and finishing processes during the manufacture of 49 BodyPlus100 is 49*5 = 245 hours. 2) BodyPlus200: In the Frame unit, it takes four (4) hours of painting and finishing time. In the Press Station, it takes two (2) hours of painting and finishing time. In the Pec-dec Station, it takes two (2) hours of painting and finishing time. In the Leg Press Station, it takes two (2) hours of painting and finishing time. The total number of painting and finishing time taken in the manufacture of one BodyPlus200 machine is ten (10) hours. Therefore, the total time taken for machining and welding processes during the manufacture of 17 BodyPlus200 is 17*10 = 170 hours. Therefore, the total number of hours spent for the entire manufacture processes is equal to 245 + 170 = 415 hours. Where the total number hours assigned for painting and finishing is 450 hours. Hence, we lost 35 hours of unused painting and finishing time. Time required for Assembling, Testing and Packaging: 1) BodyPlus100: The manufacturing of one BodyPlus100 machine takes two (2) hours of assembling, testing and packaging time. Therefore, the total number of hours spent in assembling, testing and packaging during the manufacture of 49 machines is 49*2= 98hours. 1) BodyPlus200: The manufacturing of one BodyPlus200 machine takes two (2) hours of assembling, testing and packaging time. Therefore, the total number of hours spent in assembling, testing and packaging during the manufacture of 17 machines is 17*2= 34hours. In total, the total number of hours spent during the entire process is 98 + 34 = 132 hours. As the assigned number of assembling, testing and packaging time is 140 hours. So, eight (8) hours of the assembling, testing and packaging time is unused. Total Cost for producing the machines: 1) BodyPlus100: The BodyPlus100 machine consists of four (4) units. Frame unit: Where the raw material cost for each BodyPlus100 unit is $450 in this Frame Unit. Press Station: Here the raw material costs for each BodyPlus100 unit is $300 in this Press Station. Pec-dec Station: Here the raw material cost for each BodyPlus100 unit is $250 in this Pec-dec Station. Packaging: Here the estimated cost for each BodyPlus100 unit is $50 for packaging. 2) BodyPlus200: The BodyPlus200 machine consists of five (5) units. a) Frame unit: Where the raw material cost for each BodyPlus200 unit is $650 in à à à à à à à à à à à this Frame Unit. b) Press Station: Here the raw material costs for each BodyPlus200 unit is $400 in à à à à à à à à à à à this Press Station. c) à Pec-dec Station: Here the raw material cost for each BodyPlus200 unit is $250 in à à à à à à à à à à à this Pec-dec Station. Leg Press Station: Here the raw material cost for each BodyPlus100 unit is $200 à à à à à in this Leg Press Station. Packaging: Here the estimated cost for each BodyPlus200 unit is $75 for à à à à à packaging. Labor Costs during the manufacture Process: Machining and welding: Given that the labor costs are $20 per hour for machining and welding time. à Now the total number of hours spent for machining and welding in manufacturing one BodyPlus100 and one BodyPlus200 are eight (8) and twelve (12) respectively. à à à à à à à à à à à à à Therefore, the labor costs for machining and welding estimated for manufacturing one BodyPlus100 to be 8*20 = $160. à à à à à à à à à à à à à And, the labor costs for machining and welding estimated for manufacturing one BodyPlus200 to be 12*20 = $240. Painting and finishing: Given that the labor costs are $15 per hour for painting and finishing time. Now the total number of hours spent for painting and finishing in manufacturing one BodyPlus100 and one BodyPlus200 are five (5) and ten (10) respectively. à à à à à à à à à à à à à Therefore, the labor costs for painting and finishing estimated for manufacturing one BodyPlus100 to be 5*15 = $75. à à à à à à à à à à à à à And, the labor costs for painting and finishing estimated for manufacturing one BodyPlus200 to be 10*15 = $150. Assembly, Testing and Packaging: Given that the labor costs are $12 per hour for assembly, testing, and packaging time. Now the total number of hours spent for assembling, testing and packaging in manufacturing one BodyPlus100 and one BodyPlus200 are two hours each. à à à à à à à à à à à à à Therefore, the labor costs for painting and finishing estimated for manufacturing one BodyPlus100 to be 2*12 = $24. à à à à à à à à à à à à à And, the labor costs for painting and finishing estimated for manufacturing one BodyPlus200 to be 2*12 = $24. Hence the total labor costs in manufacturing 49 BodyPlus100 are 49*($160+$75+$24) = 49*($259) à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à = $12691 à Also, the total labor costs in manufacturing 17 BodyPlus200 à are 17*($240+$150+$24) =17*($419) à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à = $7123 Gross expenditure in the production of one unit of: à BodyPlus100: The total cost made in the manufacture of one BodyPlus100 machine (includes raw costs and labor costs) à à à à à à à à à à à $450+$110+$300+$55+$250+$70+$50+$24 = $1309. BodyPlus200: The total cost made in the manufacture of one BodyPlus200 à à à à à machine (includes raw costs and labor costs) à à à à à à $650+$160+$400+$75+$250+$70+$200+$70+$75+$24 = $1974. Profit Calculations: The retail price of one BodyPlus100 machine is $2400. The retail price of one BodyPlus200 machine is $3500. An authorized dealer will purchase at only 70% of the suggested retail price. Hence, a sale of one BodyPlus100 will produce 70% of $2400 = $1680 And a sale of one BodyPlus200 will produce 70% of $3500 = $2450. Admittedly, the net profit that is made in the sale of one BodyPlus100 machine is ($1680 $1309) = $371. Whereas the net profit that is made in the sale of one BodyPlus200 machine is ($2450 $1974) = $476. Here the net profit made on manufacturing one BodyPlus200 machine ($476) is larger in number than the profit that is made on manufacturing one BodyPlus100 machine ($371). But if we calculate the net profit that is made per hour work will entirely change the opinion onto BodyPlus100 machine. As, we get a profit of $476 after working 24 hours in manufacturing BodyPlus200 machine. This means the net profit made per hour on manufacturing one BodyPlus200 is only à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à $476/24 = $19.83 Whereas, the net profit made on manufacturing one BodyPlus100 machine is $371 after working for 15 hours. Therefore, profit made per hour is à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à à $371/15 = $24.73 Conclusion: So, referring to the above profit math increasing the production percent (i.e. 75%) in the total production will gradually increase the profits of the company. Military Police Corps :: U.S. Army
The Military Police Corps has a long and glorious history to be proud of. Listed on U.S. Army Info (2011), Military Police Corps was officially recognized as a military occupation on the 26th of September 1941, but their work can traced back even further. According to U.S. Army Info (2011), the first use of the Military Police was during the American Revolution in 1776. Military Police have been deployed and used in conflicts such as: "World War 11, Korean War, Vietnam conflict, Desert Storm, and Iraqi Freedom" (Wright, 2001). Today, Military Police have a variety of different tasks they are expected to perform, much more than just arresting criminals. "Military Police Corps officers lead units in performing five major functions associated with the branch-area security, maneuver and mobility support, police intelligence operations, internment and resettlement, and law and order," according to U.S. Army Info (2011). They are also charged with protecting troops and watching equipment overseas and at home stations across the United States (About, 2011). MP's are sent to Fort Leonard Wood to receive the training they are required to have, there they learn certain skills that are crucial to their occupation (U.S. Army Info, 2011). Several of the skills they learn while at Fort Leonard Wood are: "basic warrior skills, military and civil jurisdiction, use of firearms and arrest and restraint of suspects," as stated in GoArmy (2011). Each individual has to already have certain skills to be successful as a MP, such as: "being physically fit, ability to interact well with people and ability to remain calm in stressful situations," according to GoArmy (2011). Educational requirements are slim to none, the Army looks to enlist anyone who has a high school diploma or GED. If you have a bachelor's degree in any major, you can apply for an officer spot. Salary ranges are varied because it depends if your an enlisted soldier or an officer, how many years of service you have under your belt and if you receive hazard pay or separation pay or any other kind of pay benefits (GoArmy, 2011). Selection process for a MP is long and rigorous procedure. First, an individual has to qualify through MEPS to get into the military and pass all basic medical test, background checks and drug tests. Second, the individual has to complete basic training to even make it to their Advance Individual Training. After basic training is completed they are sent off to Advance Individual Training, where they are pushed through one last test, if they complete AIT, then you will be a certified Military Police soldier.

Getting my Masters of Social Work Degree - 763 Words
I have been working as a social worker for the past three years. In all these years, it has always been my desire and passion to acquire enhanced social skills and knowledge to help me empower disadvantaged individuals and families take control of their lives. My desire therefore to pursue a Masters of Social Work degree (MSW) has been inspired by over three years of continuous work with families, children, youths and adults who require support to cope and combat oppressive structures and social injustices. It has therefore been my dream to pursue MSW program which I believe is the only program that can help me to accomplish my goal. Since childhood, my parents, teachers and pastors, have often taught me to be considerate ofâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦My role as a human relations agent at the Inuulitsivik Health Center in Nunavik, is the second reason why I believe Victoriaââ¬â¢s MSW program will be a good fit for me. I discovered from the Inuit population in Nunavik that the system has oppressed them for so many years but little is being to address their needs and aspirations. My current role as a child welfare practitioner is third reason why I am applying for the Victoriaââ¬â¢s MSW program. I believe the schoolââ¬â¢s educational mission will further help me in working with individuals and families from a critical point perspective by focusing on the structural, feminist, and Indigenous levels of oppression. I am aware of my power as a child welfare worker and how I sometimes create a dominate relationship to a family with child protection concerns. Thus, I believe that the universityââ¬â¢s MSW educational mission combined with their scholarly mission to sharing and creating knowledge from a critical view could help me to improve and integrate more anti-oppressive practices as a parent child capacity building practitioner. Over my period of volunteer experience and professional work, I have taken special interests in children and families because conflicts in the home have steadily increased over the years.
